South Dakota State makes the short trip south to take on South Dakota in the Interstate Series on Sunday afternoon

South Dakota (16-10) is the hottest team in the Summit League, climbing to fourth in the league standings at 7-4 with a four-game winning streak. On Sunday afternoon, South Dakota State (17-9) — coming off wins over the top two teams in the conference — makes the trip to the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, South Dakota. The Jackrabbits are 8-3 in the Summit League but just 2-7 on the road, while the Coyotes are 12-1 at home. South Dakota State has played in two of the last three NCAA tournaments, including last season, while South Dakota has not gone to the Big Dance since moving up to Division I in 2008.

The host Jackrabbits pulled away in the second half, handing league-leading Omaha a 98-85 loss on Thursday night. Oscar Cluff finished with 25 points, 15 rebounds and six assists while Joe Sayler added 19 points. Cluff averages 17.3 points and 12.5 boards and Sayler chips in with 13.7 points per game.

The Coyotes also come off a win at home on Thursday night, stopping Kansas City 79-72. Dre Bullock went for 26 points and six steals and Isaac Bruns tossed in 21 points as the Coyotes forced 21 turnovers. Chase Forte leads the team at 16.0 points per game while Bruns puts up 14.7 points a night and Paul Bruns averages 9.0 points and 4.4 rebounds.

South Dakota State leads the all-time series 139-97-1 (the teams played to a 15-15 tie on March 12, 1915) and has won the nine meetings, including a 90-71 win at home on Jan. 25. Eric Henderson is 126-57 in his sixth season leading the Jackrabbits, with two NCAA tourney appearances. Eric Peterson has a 40-49 mark in his third season at South Dakota.
