The No. 5-seeded South Dakota will take on the No. 1-seeded Omaha in the first semfinal in the Summit League Championship at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Saturday night. The Omaha Mavericks finished their season with a 20-12 overall record and a 13-3 record against teams in the Summit League. They finished with a one-game lead over St. Thomas in Minnesota and a two-game lead over South Dakota State. They entered the conference tournament in the quarterfinals, matching up with Kansas City.

They picked up a decent-sized win against them, 70-61. Marquel Sutton led the way for Omaha with 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting and a team-high 11 rebounds in the group’s only double-double. JJ White finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, while two other players finished with double digits, including one off the bench.

The South Dakota Coyotes finished their season with a 19-13 overall record and a 9-7 record against teams in the Summit League. They were the first team in the standings to not get double-digit conference wins. They finished four-games back from their opponent, and also entered the tournament in the quarterfinal stage.

They took down North Dakota State in the quarterfinals after taking down rival state North Dakota in the season finale. They narrowly edged out the Bison with an 85-84 win. Chase Forte led the team with 28 points on 9-of-18 shooting in the quarterfinal win. He also had a team-high three assists while Isaac Bruns led the team with 10 rebounds.
