South Florida and Portland will both travel to Conway, South Carolina, on Thursday, the third week of the regular season of men’s college basketball. In Conway, these two teams will take the court at The HTC Center in the first round of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. The winner and loser of this game will go on to face off against the winner and loser of the Ohio vs Middle Tennessee State matchup. Both teams will head into this first-round game with a 2-2 record through the first two weeks of the season.

The Bulls opened up their season against the former No. 21 ranked team in the country, Florida, and lost by 15 points. They followed it up with a second loss on the road against College of Charleston by 15 points. After that first week, they bounced back beating Arkansas Pine Bluff by 16 points at home at the beginning of the week and West Georgia at home, 74-55, later in the week.

The Pilots came away from their first week of the season with a 1-1 record after beating Lewis and Clark at home by 13 points in their season opener. They lost to Santa Barabara that weekend by 41 points. They went on the road for the first time at the beginning of last week and lost by 10 points in overtime to Oregon before bouncing back last weekend with a two-point win over Long Beach State.

Portland’s player to watch out for is 6-foot-5 senior guard Vukasin Masic. The transfer from Maine is averaging 15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. On the opposite side, South Florida’s best player is 6-foot-3 senior guard Kasen Jennings. He is averaging 12.3 points and 3.3 assists per game.
