Southern Illinois looks to tie Murray State in the conference standings when these two rivals face-off on Wednesday night in college basketball.

Murray State looks to get back to .500 when it hosts Southern Illinois in this Missouri Valley Conference college basketball showdown on Wednesday. The Racers are 6-6 at home this season and a 7-9 conference record. Murray State is trying to bounce back from a 74-67 loss against Northern Iowa that ended the Racers’ chances at winning three in a row. The road loss dropped Murray State a game below .500 away from home. Terence Harcum still had a good game against UNI, scoring a team-high 19 points with an impressive five three-pointers. Nick Ellington was right behind Harcum with 18 points and JaCobi Wood added another 15. The difference in the game might have been Northern Iowa’s ability to get to the charity stripe, outscoring the Racers by 12 points on free throws. Murray State was able to tie the game early in the second half, but was never able to regain the lead.

Southern Illinois meanwhile is trying to avoid losing three games in a row tonight. The Salukis have the same conference record as Murray State and are only a game behind the Racers in the Missouri Valley standings. Southern Illinois is also 5-of-6 on the road heading into this matchup. The Salukis are coming off a tough home loss against Belmont by a 73-68 final. Belmont was down 13 at half, but stormed back in the second, outscoring Southern Illinois by 18.

Ali Dibba was a huge reason the Salukis jumped out to a prominent first half lead, scoring 17 points in the first and finished the night with a team-high 24 points. Southern Illinois will have to keep its foot on the gas tonight if the Salukis are to walk away with the road upset.
