The St. John’s Red Storm hit the road on Wednesday night to take on the DePaul Blue Demons in college basketball. The Red Storm come into Wednesday fresh off a big 79-73 win over Creighton. The win kept them from losing a second straight game and kept them in first place in the conference standings. They would have been tied with the Bluejays had they lost, but now they own a two-game lead on both them and Marquette. The Red Storm did get upset by Villanova last Wednesday, but they come into this game having won 11 of their last 12 games. RJ Luis Jr. is the team’s top scorer at 17.6 points per game, while Zuby Ejiofor is second at 13.9 points per game, while also grabbing a team-best 8.0 rebounds per game. Kadary Richmond is also averaging double figures this season at 12.6 points per game.

The Blue Demons will need to find a way to slow down the trio as they try and avenge an earlier season loss to the Red Storm. The two teams met back on Dec. 17 with the Red Storm coming away with a 89-61 win.

That loss dropped the Blue Demons to 8-3 and they have won just three of their 15 games since that loss.

It has been a tough season for the Blue Demons, but they have still won more games than they did last year.

Wednesday they will look to add to that total and get a big home upset win. Leading scorer CJ Gunn will need to play well if they want to get the win. Gunn is averaging 12.3 points per game, while Jacob Meyer is right behind him at 10.9 points per game.
