St. John’s will head on the road to Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday night for a Big East Conference showdown in men’s college basketball. In New Jersey, St. John’s will take the court at the Prudential Center against Seton Hall. The St. John’s Red Storm are 15-3 overall this season and have risen to 6-1 against teams in the Big East. They are the No. 2 ranked team in the conference, just a half-game behind the No. 7 ranked team in the nation Marquette, who is undefeated in conference play. They are also a half-game up on No. 14-ranked UConn, who is 5-1.

St. John’s has yet to lose in 2025 with four straight wins this year heading into this weekend. They opened with a home game against Butler that ended in an eight-point win. They followed it up with a 10-point road win at Xavier before going back home last weekend and dominating Villanova by 12 points. Earlier this week, they just snuck by Georgetown by five points. RJ Luis Jr leads St. John’s in scoring this season, averaging 17.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Seton Hall has not had the same type of season as St. John’s. Overall, they are 6-11, and against conference teams, they are just 1-5. They sit a half-game over Butler, who is 1-6, and 1.5 games over DePaul, who is winless at the bottom of the conference. Seton Hall won the first game of the month with a five-point win over DePaul in overtime.

However, after that, it lost two straight games on the road heading into this weekend. Last weekend, it lost to Providence by six points, and earlier this week, it lost on the road to Butler by five points. Isaiah Coleman leads Seton Hall on the court. the 6-foot-5 sophomore guard is averaging 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this season.
