The Stonehill men’s basketball team tries to avoid losing three in a row when it travels to take on Robert Morris on Thursday. To be fair, Stonehill has faced very tough opponents in Notre Dame and Providence in its last couple of games. This comes after winning against Framingham State in the Skyhawks’ season opener. Stonehill is coming off a humbling loss against Providence in a 76-49 final on Saturday. The difference came with Providence shooting 50 percent from the field and had 48 rebounds, which was 22 more than Stonehill. Graduate student Amir Nesbitt led the Skyhawks with 12 points and he also had a game-high five assists. Stonehill shot less than 40 percent from the field and will have to improve to hang better going into the Urban-Bennett Invitational. Stonehill will travel to the campus of Robert Morris for this three-game tournament. This first matchup against the Colonials should be a much closer contest.

Robert Morris still should be the favorite being the host of this tournament. The Colonials are coming off their first home game of the season and it happened to be a win. Robert Morris beat Chatham University convincingly 79-51 on Sunday.

There were three Colonials that scored in double digits, including Ryan Prather Jr., who scored 19 points on the day, which was a career-high. The Colonials were dominant in the first half, but they took it to another level in the second, starting the half on a 13-0 run.
