Fordham, San Francisco look to snap 2-game slides in the Sunshine Slam Beach Bracket consolation game
San Francisco (4-2) has lost its last two games and faces Fordham (3-4) on Tuesday in the consolation game of the Beach Bracket at the Sunshine Slam at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Dons were an NCAA tournament team in 2022 and played in last spring’s NIT. They are 47-27 under coach Chris Gerlufsen, who is in his third season. The Rams last played in the postseason when they appearanced in the 2016 CIT and haven’t been to the NCAA tournament since 1992. Coach Keith Urgo is 41-32 in his third year at the school.

San Francisco held Clemson to 33.3% shooting int he first half before the Tigers caught fire after the break and ran away with a 70-55 win. Malik Thomas was the lone double-figure scorer for the Dons with 14 points. Thomas scores 17.0 points per game, with Tyrone Riley IV getting 13.7 points a night and Ndewedo Newbury averaging 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Fordham surrendered 12 offensive rebounds, leading to 21 points, in their 85-66 loss to Penn State on Monday. Jackie Johnson III and Joshua Rivera each scored 15 points while Romad Dean finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Johnson nets 18.4 points per game and Jahmere Tripp scores 11.7 points a contest, with Dean averaging 7.0 points and 5.6 boards.
Tuesday marks just the second meeting between the programs. The Rams took a 77-64 decision at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Dec. 21, 1968.
