After opening the season with a four-game winning streak, Notre Dame is now scuffling during a five-game losing streak that has dropped it to 4-5 on the season. The Irish return home where they’re 3-1, with three of their losses coming at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas late last month. Syracuse, on the other hand, has lost three of its last four games to fall to 4-3 overall as it opens conference play. The Orange are 0-3 away from the JMA Wireless Dome. Syracuse has won three straight games over Notre Dame, including a 88-85 win last season.

Most recently, Notre Dame fell in the SEC/ACC Challenge to Georgia by a final score of 69-58 on Tuesday. The Irish offense struggled shooting only 36.5 percent from the field, with Tae Davis and Braden Shrewsberry scoring 14 points each. Notre Dame did make the game interesting by rallying from 17 points down, but couldn’t get the game any closer.Â
As for Syracuse, the Orange also fell in their latest contest in a 96-70 loss to Tennessee in Knoxville on Tuesday. Freshman Elijah Moore scored a career-high 24 points for the Orange, but the third-ranked Vols had too much offense in the ACC/SEC Challange.
Notre Dame and Syracuse now begin conference play in South Bend on Saturday.
