Chaz Lanier, the team’s leading scorer, dropped 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting in the win. They advanced to the second round to take on No. 7-seeded UCLA just two days later.

They won that game by 38 points on a game-high from Milos Uzan. Two days later, they took on No. 8 Gonzaga in the second round, winning 81-76.

L.J. Cryer dropped 30 points in a game they almost lost on 8-of-15 shooting. Joseph Tugler had Houston’s only double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Their Sweet 16 game on Friday featured a battle against No. 4 Purdue. They won the game 62-60 on a beautifully drawn-up inbounds pass with just a second left as Uzan scored the game-winning shot.
