Texas will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, this weekend for a men’s college basketball face-off in the Southeastern Conference. On Saturday, it will battle against South Carolina at the Colonial Life Arena. The Texas Longhorns are 16-10 overall this season and feature a 5-8 record against teams in the SEC. They are just a half-game behind Vanderbilt and a half-game in front of Arkansas. They sit five games ahead of their opponent and 6.5 games behind the conference-leading and nation’s top-ranked team, Auburn.

After a rough 23-point loss to Alabama at home two weeks ago, they bounced back last weekend with a dominant win against former No. 15 Kentucky at home by four points. Tre Johnson, the stellar freshman, dropped a game-high 32 points in the win, shooting 11-for-26 from the field. He also led the team with nine rebounds and three assists.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are the exact opposite overall, with a 10-16 record. However, they are still winless against teams in the SEC. They are 0-13 and sit at the bottom of the conference, five games away from their opponent and 11.5 games away from the top of the conference. They have yet to win a game in 2025.

Most recently, they were taken down last weekend on the road by former No. 3 Florida by 21 points. Earlier this week, they lost to LSU on the road by 14 points. Collin Murray-Boyles leads South Carolina in scoring this season, averaging 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 57% from the field.
