Otis Frazier and UTEP will take the court against Conference USA rivals Kaden Metheny and Liberty on Thursday night in college basketball.

UTEP will travel on Thursday night in a men’s college basketball showdown in Conference USA against Liberty. The UTEP Miners are 12-4 overall this season and 2-1 in three games against conference teams this season. They are a half-game behind Middle Tennessee State and a full game behind New Mexico State in the conference. They opened up January with a 10-point win over Louisiana Tech, their only double-digit conference win of the season.

Otis Frazier III dropped 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting in the win. They stayed at home and beat Sam Houston in the next game by nine points. Last weekend, they lost at home to New Mexico State by 28 points in their biggest and only conference loss. Frazier leads UTEP in scoring this season, averaging 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

The Liberty Flames are 14-3 overall this season and are a half-game behind UTEP in the conference standings with a 2-2 C-USA record. They are tied with Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech while sitting a half-game ahead of Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State. They opened the year with a one-point loss at home against Western Kentucky before beating MTSU by 10 points in the next game.

They went on the road and beat Sam Houston by eight points before losing their last game on the road, last weekend, against Louisiana Tech by five points. Kaden Metheny leads Liberty in scoring this season. The senior guard is averaging 13.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the field.
