Texas Tech, the No. 22 ranked men’s college basketball team in the country, will travel to Houston, Texas, this weekend in a battle between two Big 12 Conference teams. On Saturday, they will face off against the No. 6-ranked team in the nation, Houston, at the Fertitta Center. The Houston Cougars are 17-3 overall this season heading this week. They are the only undefeated team left in the Big 12 with a 9-0 record in the conference. They hold a one-game lead over Arizona, who is 8-1 in the conference and just upset No. 3 Iowa State.

Houston ended January with a massive win against former No. 12 Kansas by six points in double-overtime. J’Wan Roberts dropped a game-high 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting in the thrilling win. Earlier this week, they dominated West Virginia by 14 points on the road led by L.J. Cryer, who dropped a game-high 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting and a team-high three assists.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders, the visiting team, are 16-4 overall this season. They are 7-2 against teams in the Big 12, tied with No. 3 Iowa State and two games behind their opponent, the conference leader. They are also one game behind the No. 11-ranked Kansas. Last weekend, they beat Oklahoma State by 10 points at home.

Chance McMillian led the team with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and six rebounds. Federiko Federiko had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Over the weekend, they beat TCU at home by 14 points, led by JT Toppin, Texas Tech’s leading scorer, who dropped 18 points in a game-high. He also had 14 rebounds, 13 of them on the defensive side.
