Colonial Athletic play continues on Monday night with a game between Towson and Northeastern in college basketball action.

Towson takes on Northeastern in a Colonial Athletic conference meeting on Monday night in Boston at Matthews Arena. Both teams are 11-9 overall, however, the Towson Tigers hold a 6-1 CAA record while the Northeastern Huskies are 3-4 in CAA play. Northeastern comes into Monday night’s game with a spot in ninth place after defeating Drexel 70-61 in its last outing. In the win, Northeastern took a six-point lead into half time and was able to maintain its lead for the remaining 20 minutes of play. Rashad Kind and JB Frankel each scored 19 points to lead the offensive play for the Huskies. King also grabbed seven rebounds and had seven assists in the victory, both of which were team highs. Youri Fritz added an additional 13 points to the scoreboard to put the game out of reach for the Dragons.

The Tigers are currently in second place in the CAA, just behind the William & Mary Tribe who are sitting at 7-1. Towson’s last time on the court was on Thursday against North Carolina A&T and resulted in an 83-67 win, the team’s fifth in a row. In the win, the Tigers surged to a 10-point first half lead and followed that up in the second half, outscoring N.C. A&T 40-33. Tyler Tejada led the scoring with 20 points and Nendah Tarke came off the bench to contribute 17 points. Leading the rebounding efforts were Caleb Embeya and Mekhi Lowery, each with nine rebounds. On the season, the Tigers are led offensively by Tejada, who averages 16.7 points per game. Lowery leads the team with and average of 5.8 rebounds per game.

The last meeting between the two teams took place last February, where Towson earned an 83-76 victory. Northeastern leads the all-time series 29-22.
