Towson will open conference play in the CAA against UNC-Wilmington on Thursday night at the Trask Coliseum.

Towson will travel to Wilmington, North Carolina, for a men’s college basketball conference showdown in the Coastal Athletic Association. In North Carolina, they will face off against UNC-Wilmington at the Trask Coliseum. The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks (10-3, 0-0) will take the court against a conference opponent for the first time this season after winning double-digit non-conference games, including a win to end out 2024 against Spartanburg ME, 99-47, led by a 20-point performance from junior guard Noah Ross.

They only lost one game last month against Howard on the road by just five points. Since then, along with Spartanburg, they have beaten FGCU and UNC Asheville. They bring a three-game winning streak into conference play. Donovan Newby leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 16.2 points on 43% shooting with a team-high 3.0 assists per game.

The Towson Tigers (5-8, 0-0) will start conference play on the road after winning just five non-conference games, including two on the road. They ended 2024 with one of those five wins, beating Bryant at home by five points, 70-65, led by an 18-point performance from Tyler Tejada on 6-of-14 shooting.

They lost their other three games in December against UMBC at home, Duquesne on the road, and Robert Morris on the road. They have nine games ahead of them this month after an easy December. Tejada leads the team in scoring, despite only appearing in seven games, averaging 16.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Dylan Williamson is averaging 12.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
