Solo Ball and No. 19 UConn will take the court against Big East rival Zach Freemantle and Xavier on Saturday night.

UConn, the No. 19 ranked men’s college basketball team in the country, will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, this weekend in a battle of Big East schools. On Saturday, they will face off against Xavier at the Cintas Center. The UConn Huskies are 14-5 overall this season, coming into this weekend with a 6-2 record against teams in the Big East. They are tied with Creighton and a game behind Marquette at 7-1 in the conference. This team has won and lost a game in the last week of basketball. Last Saturday, they lost at home to Creighton by five points, 68-63.

Solo Ball and Hassan Diarra both had 15 points in the loss. Diarra also had six rebounds and seven assists. Earlier this week, on Tuesday, they won an overtime game against Butler, also at home, 80-78. Ball finished with a game-high 23 points, while Alex Karaban had 19 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Samson Johnson and Tarris Reed Jr both had 14 points.

The home team tonight will be the Xavier Musketeers, who are 12-8 this season. After an 8-3 record against non-conference teams, they have since gone 4-5 against teams in the conference. They are a half-game behind Georgetown and a half-game against Providence. They are 2.5 games behind their opponent in the Big East.

Xavier had arguably their biggest win of the season seven days ago when they beat former No. 7-ranked Marquette on the road by two points. Zach Freemantle led the team with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. They followed it up on Wednesday with a rough, eight-point loss in overtime to No. 20 St. John’s on the road. Ryan Conwell finished with 21 points to lead Xavier in the loss.
