Illinois State and the University of Incarnate Word will try to claim a spot in the Purple Invitational final with a win on Tuesday night.

Only four teams remain in the Men’s Purple College Basketball Invitational and on Tuesday night, the University of Incarnate Word Cardinals will take on the Illinois State Redbirds with the hopes of earning a spot in the championship game to be played on Wednesday. The Redbirds made it through to the semifinal round after beating Presbyterian 78-70 on Sunday. Chase Walker led the Illinois State offense with a 20-point performance while Ty Pence came off the bench to finish closely behind with 17 points. Dalton Banks and Johnny Kinziger each added 10 points to the scoreboard to help the team finish the game shooting 60 percent from the field and 31 percent from long range. Walker also led the team on the boards with nine rebounds to earn a double-double in the win.

The Cardinals earned a spot in the semifinal round after playing to a commanding 87-71 win over Jacksonville on Monday afternoon. Davion Bailey paced four to double-digit finishes with his 23-point performance while Jalin Anderson was just one point behind him with 22 points and Jordan Pyke added 21 points in the win. Pyke pulled down a team-high six rebounds to lead on the boards. The Cardinals shot an impressive 54 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc to pick up the win, earn a spot in the semifinals and improve to 19-16 overall.

Tuesday night’s game will be the first between Illinois State and UIW. Tune in at 7 p.m. ET to see which team can earn a spot in the final.
