Colonial Athletic play will continue on Thursday night for Monmouth and UNC-Wilmington when the teams meet in men’s college basketball action.

The Monmouth Hawks will host the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks on Thursday night at the OceanFirst Bank Center for a Colonial Athletic contest. The Seahawks are currently in an eight-way tie for second place in the conference standings with a record of 1-1 in Colonial Athletic play and 11-4 overall. The team dropped its conference opener to Towson in overtime, but bounced back to beat Campbell in a 77-69 victory its last time out. Donovan Newby paced four Seahawks to double digit finishes with his 17-point performance while Khamari McGriff was just a basket behind with 15 points. Sean Moore came off the bench to lead on the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds in the win.

The Hawks are also 1-1 in conference play to share in that eight-way tie for second place, but have struggled overall and are currently sitting at 3-12 overall. Most recently, the team suffered its first Colonial Athletic loss to Delaware in a tough 84-64 defeat on the road. Abdi Bashir Jr. and Cornelius Robinson III were the only two Hawks in double figures with 20 and 10 points, respectively, making it difficult to keep the Fightin’ Blue Hens within reach.

UNCW and Monmouth have now met three times in their history and the Seahawks have won all three games. Last season, the teams met in North Carolina and the UNCW won handily in a 69-56 victory in front of a home crowd.
