The Wildcats have struggled recently and are on a three-game losing streak, bringing their overall record to 12-10 and their conference record to 3-8 for a spot in 16th place in the Big Ten standings. Over the weekend, the team took on No. 17 Wisconsin and lost in a tough 75-69 defeat. Jalen Leach led the Wildcats offensively and paced four with double digit finishes with his 23-point performance while also leading on the boards alongside Nick Martinelli with seven rebounds apiece. The team shot decently at 42 percent from the field and 39 percent from long range.

In their first season in the Big Ten conference, the Trojans are holding their own, posting a 5-5 record in conference play and an overall record of 13-8, putting them in eighth place in the standings. On Saturday, the team pulled off a huge upset against No. 7 Michigan State in a 70-64 victory at home to hand the Spartans their first conference loss of the season. Desmond Claude led the Trojans’ offense with 19 points, while Wesley Yates III and Chibuzo Agbo also finished in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively. The USC defense shut down the MSU offense, allowing just two Spartans to make it into double digits.

Northwestern and USC have only met twice in their history and the series is tied at 1-1. The teams haven’t met since 2000 and the game resulted in a narrow 63-61 win for the Wildcats.
