The UNLV Rebels will continue the 2025 college basketball season on their home court at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, against the visiting UT-Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday. The Rebels finished with an 18-15 record last season and an 11-9 mark in the conference. They opened the season against UT Martin at home in the Thomas & Mack Center and lost. They led by as many as 10 points in the first half and held a 43-39 halftime lead, but struggled to contain UT Martin, ultimately falling in their first game, 86-81.

Despite missing four scholarship players due to injuries, UNLV stayed competitive, led by Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn’s 18 points on 5-of-16 shooting. Kimani Hamilton added 13 points with two rebounds and two assists before fouling out, while Al Green chipped in 12 points with two rebounds and two steals. Jacob Bannarbie came off the bench and had nine points with eight rebounds to lead the reserves.

The Mocs pulled out a win in the team’s first game of the season on Monday, the opening night of college basketball. They took their home court at McKenzie Arena. They jumped out early, going on a 22-5 run to build a 25-7 lead, then held Union to just 11 points in the first half. They maintained control throughout, extending the lead to 70-22 by midway through the second half, winning 92-39.

Tate Darner led the Mocs with 15 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting and seven rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench, while Jikari Johnson added 14 points and seven boards in 15 minutes off the bench. Latif Diouf, a sophomore forward in his second year with the team, led the starting rotation with nine points and nine rebounds with four assists, shooting 100% from the field.
