Utah State and UNLV will square-off on Thursday night as the teams look to continue their tournament run with a win.

In the final quarterfinal game of the Mountain West Tournament, the third-seeded Utah State Aggies takes on the sixth-seeded UNLV Runnin’ Rebels as the teams hope to earn a spot in the semifinal round. UNLV made it through to the quarterfinals after beating the 11th-seeded Air Force Falcons in a 68-59 victory. Four players scored in double figures with Jalen Hill leading the scoring efforts with 18 points and ten rebounds, earning a double-double in the win. Jailen Bedford was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and 13 points. On the season, UNLV is 18-14 with an 11-9 conference record due in large part to Dedan Thomas Jr.’s average of 15.6 points per game.

The Aggies received a first round bye and come into tournament play with an overall record of 25-6 and a conference record of 15-5. The Aggies closed out regular season play with a game against Air Force, winning handily in an 87-47 trouncing.

Mason Falsley led the offensive efforts with 18 points and a team-high seven rebounds while Ian Martinez and Dexter Akanno each scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. On the season the Aggies are led by Martinez with 16.9 points per game and Falsely is leading the team with 6.1 rebounds per game. 

The last meeting between the two teams took place at the end of January and resulted in a 76-71 win for Utah State. Tune in Thursday night to see which team is able to earn a semifinal spot with a win at the Thomas & Mack Center.
