After taking down former No. 10 Texas A&M on their home court by six points, they lost a tough one at home nonetheless. However, they battled hard last weekend and took home a five-point 102-97 win over former No. 8-ranked Kentucky in their latest SEC win. Player of the Year candidate Mark Sears leads Alabama in scoring. The senior guard is averaging 18.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are 15-3 overall this season and are 3-2 against teams in the SEC. After a surprising 12-1 record against non-conference teams, they entered January with a streak to keep. They beat LSU in the first game of the month by eight points. However, they would lose the next two against former No. 14-ranked Mississippi State at home and Missouri on the road.

Bouncing back, they beat South Carolina last week and dook down former No. 6 Tennessee in a massive upset at home by one point on a missed game-tying free throw by the Volunteers. Jason Edwards leads Vanderbilt’s charge on the court. The junior guard is averaging 17.1 points per game on 45.8% shooting from the floor.
