The VCU Rams will travel to Philadelphia on Friday for an Atlantic 10 contest against the Saint Joseph’s Hawks at Hagan Arena. The Hawks are currently in eighth place in the A-10 standings with a conference record of 2-2 and an overall record of 11-6. The team’s most recent game took place at home on Saturday against Loyola Chicago and the Hawks won handily in a 93-57 victory. Xzayvier Brown continues to lead the Hawks offensively this season and is averaging 15.4 points per game after his team-leading 20-point performance against the Ramblers. Derek Simpson followed closely behind with 19 points and Erik Reynolds II finished the game with 18 points. Rasheer Flemings pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double with his 14 points.

The Rams come into Friday night’s game with an overall record of 13-4 and a conference record of 3-1 for a spot in second place in the A-10 standings. The team is currently on a three game win streak after beating Saint Louis 78-62 its last time out. Joe Bamisile led the Rams in scoring with 23 points while three others joined him in double digits. Jack Clark turned in a 12-point performance while Max Shulga and Brandon Jennings rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. While the team only shot 41 percent from the field and 30 percent from beyond the arc, it was enough to get past the Billikens and stay toward the top of the league table.

Saint Joseph’s and VCU have met a total of 16 times and the Rams are currently leading the series 12-4. Last year the teams met twice with the second taking place at the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Rams eared a 66-60 win over the Hawks to return to the A-10 final where they eventually lost to Duquesne.
