After last week’s loss No. 10 Marquette is still working to keep pace with No. 20 St. John’s at the top of the Big East standings. The Golden Eagles host Villanova in a conference matchup on Friday night.

In a Big East matchup on Friday night, No. 10 Marquette (16-3, 7-1 Big East) is at home taking on Villanova (12-8, 5-4 Big East) at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Last week the Golden Eagles lost their first conference game of the year, at home against Xavier 59-57. That was also the team’s last home game. That loss put Marquette back in the pack at the top of the crowded Big East standings. Bouncing back against Villanova will help the Golden Eagles keep pace.

Marquette has already played once since that loss to Xavier last week. The Golden Eagles were on the road in New Jersey on Tuesday and blew out Seton Hall 76-59. Senior guard Kam Jones led the team with 19 points in the win.

Meanwhile Villanova is coming off of a close loss during the week. The Wildcats hosted Georgetown on Monday and lost 64-63. That was after a 75-73 win over Providence on Friday. Overall, Villanova has won four of its last seven games.

The last time these two teams met was in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals last year. Marquette won that game 71-65 in overtime on the way to an appearance in the conference championship game.

This year’s first rematch is set to tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday night. You can catch the game on FOX Sports 1.
