Virginia and Georgia Tech will go head-to-head in the ACC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon with the hopes of continuing postseason play.

The ninth-seeded Virginia Cavaliers will take on the eighth-seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday afternoon as the teams meet at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina for the second round of tournament play. Both teams received byes in the first round after the Cavaliers finished with a conference record of 8-12 and the Yellow Jackets finished with an ACC record of 10-10. The Cavaliers took on Syracuse in their regular season finale, falling in an 84-70 defeat on the road. Jacob Cofie and Dai Dai Ames were the only two Cavaliers in double figures, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively. While the team shot 51 percent from the field, it struggled from long range, going just 3-for-15, which was crucial in the loss and will be crucial on Wednesday.

The Ramblin’ Wreck also ended the regular season with a loss, falling to Wake Forest on Saturday in a tough 69-43 defeat on the road. Baye Ndongo led the team in scoring once again, turning in a 13-point performance while Jaeden Mustaf finished right behind him with 12 points. Ibrahim Souare led Georgia Tech on the boards, pulling down 11 rebounds, while Ndongo grabbed 10 to earn a double-double in the team’s final regular season game. The Georgia Tech offense had one of its worst performances of the season, shooting just 29 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc, while going just 8-for-14 from the line. All of those marks will need to be improved upon to make it past the Cavaliers on Wednesday.
