St. Thomas finished off a two-game sweep in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge on Saturday with an 88-81 win over visiting Montana. Kendall Blue and Nolan Minessale each scored 22 points in the victory. Miles Barnstable leads the club with 13.5 points per game, while Blue averages 11.8 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Western Michigan ran out of gas in the second half as host Dayton came from behind for a 77-69 win on Dec. 3. Owen Lobsinger led the offense with 24 points, with Markhi Strickland adding 19. Strickland scores 13.3 points per game and Lobsinger averages 12.4 points and 7.3 boards.

The Tommies won the first meeting between the teams last season, taking a 65-51 win in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Dec. 1, 2023. Coach John Tauer is 274-101 in his 14th season at St. Thomas, winning a D-III national championship in 2016. Dwayne Stephens, a longtime Michigan State assistant, is 23-46 in his third year with the Broncos.
