Xavier Bell and Wichita State will take the court against AAC rival PJ Haggerty and No. 24 Memphis on Thursday night.

Wichita State will travel to Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday night in a battle of American Athletic Conference teams. In Tennessee, they will take on the No. 24-ranked team in men’s college basketball in the country, Memphis, at the FedEx Forum. The Memphis Tigers are 14-4 overall this season, which includes a 4-1 record against teams in the arc. They are tied for the top team in the conference with Temple, North Texas, and Alabama-Birmingham. Memphis opened up January with a seven-point loss to Temple on the road.

They bounced back and have since won four straight games heading into this game. They took down Charlotte by nine points on the road, followed by East Carolina by four points at home. Last week, they took down Florida Atlantic on the road, and last weekend, they beat North Texas by four points at home. PJ Haggerty leads Memphis in scoring, averaging 22.1 points per game, ranked No. 2 in the nation.

The Wichita State Shockers are 11-7 overall this season. However, after finishing 10-3 against non-conference teams, they are just 1-4 against AAC teams heading into this week. Their only conference win came against Charlotte by nine points in the middle of last week. Corey Washington led the charge in that win with 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting.

Outside of that win, they lost to Temple at home, South Florida on the road, UTSA on the road, and most recently East Carolina at home. Xavier Bell leads Wichita State in scoring this season, averaging 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. The senior is followed by senior Justin Hill, who averages 13.6 points and 3.4 assists per game.
