Last time out, Xavier upset one of the top teams in the Big East in No. 25 UConn. The Musketeers are back on the floor on Wednesday with another chance to pull off a conference upset as they travel to take on Creighton.

In recent weeks Xavier (13-8, 5-5) has been making a big push up the Big East standings. The Musketeers have won four of their last five games, all in conference play. Even in their lone loss in that stretch they were impressive, taking No. 15 St. John’s to overtime at Madison Square Garden before losing 79-71 last Wednesday. Sean Miller’s team then had an impressive win on Saturday, upsetting No. 25 UConn. 76-72, on Saturday. Now back at .500 in conference play, the Musketeers will try to keep things rolling when they head on the road and visit another top Big East team in Creighton on Wednesday night at CHI Health Center Omaha.

It was a spread effort for Xavier in that win over UConn. Graduate forward Zach Freemantle and sophomore forward Dailyn Swain tied for a team-high 15 points each, with five players scoring in double figures.

Creighton comes in on a five-game winning streak. That streak includes the Bluejays’ own 68-63 win over UConn last weekend. Last time out on Saturday the Bluejays blew out Seton Hall 79-54. That was a big game for senior center Ryan Kalkbrenner, who had 23 points, nine rebounds, and added three blocks as well. Senior guard Steven Ashworth added 17 points of his own.
