On Saturday, the Cardinals traveled to North Carolina to take on Wake Forest, winning 88-80 to secure their third road win of the year. Louisville saw six players finish the game in double figures, led by Sananda Fru who dropped 17 on the Demon Deacons. J’vonne Hadley was right behind Fru with 15 points, Khani Rooths came off the bench to add 13 and Mikel Brown Jr. tacked on 12. Ryan Conwell and Isaac McKneely rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points each. The team finished the game shooting an impressive 52.9 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range.

The Wolfpack hosted Virginia Tech over the weekend, winning 82-73 to improve their win streak to six games. Quadir Copeland and Paul McNeil Jr. each scored a game-high 21 points while Tre Holloman tacked on 16 and Ven-allen Lubin finished the game with 11. Copeland earned himself a double-double, as well, providing 10 assists for his teammates and also recording a career-high five steals. With 14 minutes left to play in the game, the Hokies went on a 12-2 run to bring the game within eight, but that’s the closest the Wolfpack allowed them to get, possessing the rest of the way to earn their tenth win at home.

Louisville and NC State have met a total of 29 times dating back to 1949 and the series is a tight one at 15-14 in the Cardinals’ favor. The teams last met in February of last year and the game went in Louisville’s favor with a 91-66 victory. Prior to that, NC State had won four straight against Louisville.
