The Broncos made it through to the semifinal round after upsetting the fourth-seeded San Diego State Aztecs on Thursday night in a 62-52 victory. With the win, the team improved to 23-9 due in large part to a 16-point performance from Alvaro Cardenas who led the Broncos offensively.

Tyson Degenhart added 14 points while Andrew Meadow and Pearson Carmichael rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 and 10 points, respectively. RJ Keene II led the team on the boards with nine rebounds and added two points to the scoreboard. The team finished the game shooting 33 percent from the field and 27 percent from long range. While those numbers were enough to get past the Aztecs, the Broncos will need to improve upon them to get past New Mexico.

New Mexico and Boise State have met twice already this season and the teams split the games with New Mexico winning the first in an 84-65 victory and the Broncos winning the second in an 86-78 victory.
