Five NFL Players To Watch In Week 2

The NFL Sunday slate is here and full of great matchups and players that are anticipated to take a big leap forward. Here are the top five players of the week to watch on Sunday. They will be players that we hope have bounce-back weeks or continue to thrive like they did before.

5. Joe Burrow, QB, Bengals

The first name on this list is Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. After throwing for 4,475 yards last season and 35 touchdowns, Burrow came out in Week 1 and competed just 14 passes for 82 yards and zero touchdowns in a Week 1 loss to their divisional-rival Cleveland Browns. I understand that not having played in the preseason, as well as, having an injury to deal with, but this is just not the same Joe Burrow we saw all of the last two seasons. Burrow should have a huge bounce-back game against another divisional rival, the Baltimore Ravens.

4. Tua Tagovailoa / Tyreek Hill, QB-WR, Dolphins

On an opposite note, the quarterback-receiver duo of Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill proved that this is going another dynamic year for the duo. In a Week 1 shootout with the Chargers, The two combined for 215 yards and two touchdowns together. Tagovailoa had another 251 yards and another touchdown through the air as well as completing 28 total passes. The team will get a tougher competition in the second with the Patriots this week that will put their combination to the test even further.

3. Daniel Jones, QB, Giants

Daniel Jones had a rough go in Week 1. Not only did the team play their division rivals, Daniel Jones had one of the worst games of his career. The Giants lost 40-0 to the Cowboys. Jones ended 15/28 with 104 yards and two interceptions. He had a passer rating of 32.4 and a QBR of just 10.2. Jones also fumbled the ball twice in the game. There is not much more of a floor Jones could have. He will get an enticing matchup against the Cardinals this week and will get a chance to show that Week 1 was a fluke.

2. Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions

One of the most highly anticipated rookies this year that wasn’t a quarterback had to have been Jahmyr Gibbs. He was the No. 12 pick in the NFL Draft and the second non-quarterback skill player on offense taken. Now, the team also signed former Bears running back David Montgomery and the touches did not turn out like we had hoped they would. Montgomery out-touched Gibbs 21-7 on the ground. Gibbs also saw just two targets through the air even with the Chiefs missing Chris Jones. Gibbs ended with 42 yards on seven carries averaging 6.0 yards per carry and could be a huge asset if utilized more.

1. Zach Wilson, QB, Jets

The most dramatic finish to a season happened on Monday night. The Jets went from bottom of the league to Super Bowl contenders with the trade this offseason for Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers would start the game on Monday and play just four snaps before tearing his Achilles and being deemed out for the remainder of the season. Wilson, being the next man up, will get the start on Sunday and get to prove once again that the former first-round pick has something left in the tank.
