Thanksgiving week fittingly begins with a family affair in the NFL. Brothers and head coaches John and Jim Harbaugh square off when the Baltimore Ravens visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night.

It’s not quite Thanksgiving just yet, but the Harbaugh family will be getting together a little bit early. On Monday night, brothers John and Jim Harbaugh face-off for the third time as head coaches, when John’s Baltimore Ravens (7-4) visit Jim’s Los Angeles Chargers (7-3) on Monday Night Football. Older brother John has won the previous two matchups, including a victory in Super Bowl XLVII.

This is a big game well beyond the brothers facing off. Both the Ravens and Chargers are right in the middle of the mix in the AFC playoff picture deep into the season. As things currently stand both teams are bidding for Wild Card spots, meaning the result of this game could hold significant meaning on playoff seeding down the road.

The Ravens are trying to bounce back from a tough division loss last week. They fell 18-16 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, ending a two-game winning streak.

Meanwhile the Chargers come in hot, riding a four-game winning streak. Last week was the closest game of the four, as LA beat the Cincinnati Bengals 34-27.

That was the first time in seven games the Chargers’ defense allowed 20 or more points. It’s been a strong unit all year, leading the NFL by allowing a league-low 14.5 points per game. This week they’ll be put to the test though facing the Ravens’ second-ranked offense that is averaging 30.4 points per game.
