The playoffs and a division title are on the line when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals in this Saturday double-header.

There is so much on the line Saturday night when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals for the second game of a double-header on ABC and ESPN. The Bengals and Steelers are trending in opposite directions as the season wraps up in Week 18. The Bengals have won four in a row to keep their playoff hopes alive while the Steelers are trying to hang on after losing three in a row. The Bengals last loss came against Pittsburgh at the beginning of December in an absolute shootout 44-38 victory for the Steelers. Russell Wilson threw for a season-high 414 yards and three touchdowns showing flashes of his brilliant early career.

But Wilson has looked far from that version ever sense and questions seemingly still remain at quarterback for Pittsburgh. The good news for the Steelers is that they have already clinched a playoff position which the same can’t be said about Cincy. No matter how unlikely, if the Steelers beat the surging Bengals tonight and Baltimore loses to Cleveland who has lost five in a row, Pittsburgh can walk away with the AFC North division title and a home playoff game in the first round. Cincinnati meanwhile needs a lot of help to get into the playoffs. First and foremost, the Bengals need this win against Pittsburgh and then they need Denver and Miami to both lose against Kansas City who is resting starters and the reeling New York Jets respectively. The Bengals will be a slight -2.5-point favorite on the road tonight.

Cincinnati is coming off one of its most exhilarating wins of the season beating the Broncos 30-24 in overtime to keep its playoff hopes alive. If the Bengals make it to the playoffs, Tee Higgins will be remembered as a key factor in making that happen. The wide receiver who will likely garner a huge contract in the offseason reeled in three touchdowns against the Broncos who had a chance to clinch the final AFC playoff spot with the win.

The third touchdown for Higgins ended the game in overtime after Cincinnati missed a field goal that would have walked off the game earlier in the extra frame. This all came after Bo Nix bombed a touchdown throw to Marvin Mims Jr. to tie the game with just eight seconds left. The Bengals nearly blew the win twice but showed they were resilient enough largely on the shoulders of quarterback Joe Burrow. His brilliant play can will this team to a win tonight even on the road but will it ultimately be enough?

Pittsburgh meanwhile showed its recent futility losing big 29-10 on Christmas Day at home against the Kansas City Chiefs who locked up the one-seed in the AFC. Patrick Mahomes returned to his normal self throwing for three touchdowns. Wilson threw for 205 yards with one interception and no touchdowns. Pittsburgh’s lone touchdown came on a one-yard run in the second quarter but the Steelers’ offense was worse in the second half. The loss put questions around Wilson’s future in Pittsburgh. A resounding win tonight will go a long way at quieting that speculation.
