The Los Angeles Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers clash in a battle of 2-0 teams with L.A. quarterback Justin Herbert‘s status up in the air
The Los Angeles Chargers (2-0) opened the season with two straight wins for the first time since returning to Los Angeles from San Diego for the 2017 season. On Sunday, the Chargers head east to Acrisure Stadium for a matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0), who are playing their home opener. Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert is listed as questionable for Sunday with a high ankle sprain and will be a game-time decision. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chargers have contingency plans with both of the other quarterbacks on the roster, Taylor Heinicke and Easton Stick.

According to 506Sports.com, the Chargers-Steelers matchup is CBS’ lead game in the early time slot, with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call. The game will air in most of California and Pennsylvania along with Arizona, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, as well as parts of Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Delaware, New Jersey, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio.
Linebacker Junior Colson won’t play for Los Angeles with a hamstring injury while defensive end Bud Dupree (illness), wide receiver Josh Palmer (elbow) and cornerback Ja’Sir Taylor (fibula) are questionable.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh placed offensive tackle Troy Fautanu on injured reserve on Saturday after he hurt his knee during practice this week. Tight end MyCole Pruitt is also out with a knee injury and guard Isaac Seumalo is out with a pectoral problem. Quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) is questionable and has yet to play this season.
Herbert has taken every snap for the Chargers, completing 67.4% of his throws for 274 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. J.K. Dobbins leads the ground game with 266 yards and two TDs on 27 carries. Quentin Johnston owns two touchdown catches with eight receptions on 11 targets for 89 yards.
The Steelers have scored one touchdown, but have five takeaways and zero turnovers. Backup quarterback Justin Fields owns a 69.8% completion rate with 273 yards and a TD.
