The New York Giants still looking for their first road win of the season, travel to take on one of their biggest rivals, Philadelphia Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles look to get even against their NFC East division rival, when they host the New York Giants in Week 8 on Sunday afternoon. The Giants dominated the Eagles 34-17 on Thursday Night Football in Week 6 in East Rutherford, NJ. Cam Skattebo rushed for three touchdowns and QB Jaxon Dart was sharp with New York not committing any turnovers. The swagger was back with the Giants after the win. That quickly evaporated in Week 7 after the Giants blew a 19-0 fourth quarter lead in an unprecedented loss against the Denver Broncos. New York may have been favored to sweep the Eagles this season if the Giants went to go on to dominate that game against the Broncos on the road as expected. But now New York is 2-5 and 0-4 on the road, while the Eagles are 5-2 and 2-1 at home. Philadelphia had a nice bounce back game in a 28-22 Week 7 win against the Minnesota Vikings who started the Eagles former QB in Carson Wentz. Philadelphia is the -7.5-point favorite to bounce back against New York today.

Jalen Hurts and the Philly offense woke up last week against the Vikings, with the Eagles QB throwing for 326 yards on 19 of 23 attempts with three touchdowns. Devonta Smith went for a career-high 183 of those yards on nine receptions and a 79-yard touchdown. A.J. Brown got reintroduced to the offense as well, going off for two touchdowns. The Eagles forced their former QB Wentz to throw for two interceptions, but the game was much closer than the Philadelphia faithful would have hoped for. New York will be a much tougher opponent to knock off, coming into this game with a huge chip on its shoulder.

That is because the Giants are coming off a stunning 33-32 loss against Denver. The Giants have obviously found their future QB in Dart, and it looked like it was going to cruise to their first road victory of the season. The Broncos didn’t score for the first three quarters. The 33 points was the most for any team in NFL history after being shut out before the fourth quarter. New York didn’t go completely quiet in the fourth either on offense. Dart threw an untimely pick late in the quarter in a drive where New York should have been exclusively running it. But the exciting rookie still ran in for a touchdown to take the 32-30 with just 37 seconds left in the game. Unfortunately Jude McAtamney missed his second PAT of the game. That was enough time for Bo Nix and company to drive down the field, with Wil Lutz nailing a 39-yard field goal as time expired. That loss is squarely on the shoulders of head coach Brian Daboll, who finally looked like he was off the hot seat after three consecutive tough seasons at the helm. It doesn’t help that Daboll, Skattebo, and Dart were all fined for violating concussion protocol in that Eagles game. Daboll is squarely back on the hot seat, with this game against the Eagles one of the biggest defining games of his career.
