The Las Vegas Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars will collide on Sunday in a bid to avoid being tagged the NFL’s worst team.

There’s little more than pride (and a priority place in the NFL Draft) at stake on Sunday when the Las Vegas Raiders play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars as two of the league’s worst performers face off. The 2-12 Raiders have won a single game at Allegiant Stadium so far in 2024 but are currently in the gloom of a 10-loss streak, while 3-11 Jacksonville managed a win at Tennessee in its most recent road trip. It was about time for the Jaguars, too, after they lost each of their first six away fixtures of the year, with the team hoping a late run on the road can inspire some belief among their fans.

The main objective for both of these teams entering the final phases of their seasons lies in planning for the future, whatever that may mean for the respective franchises.

The Raiders won the only meeting between these teams since relocating to Las Vegas, though Jacksonville leads the series 6-4 overall in a rivalry that dates back to 1996.

Rookie receiver Brian Thomas will take to the field on Sunday hoping to bag his fourth touchdown in as many games after scoring twice in the recent defeat to the Jets.

The prospect is also on a high after earning calls to be voted into this year’s Pro Bowl, currently sitting on eight touchdowns and 956 receiving yards in his first NFL season:

Mac Jones will be the playmaker in the pocket hoping to get the most out of Thomas and the Jaguars receiver corps for the remainder of the campaign after Trevor Lawrence underwent shoulder surgery.

Tight end Evan Engram will also miss the rest of the schedule after he also underwent surgery, giving head coach Doug Pederson all the more reason to experiment moving forward.

Boasting a combined five wins in 2024, the Raiders and the Jaguars account for two of the six worst defenses in the NFL this year after each leaking an average 27 points per game so far this term.
