The Detroit Lions go for their sixth win in a row facing off against the Green Bay Packers who are going for their fifth straight in this NFC North rivalry showdown.

The only team better than the Detroit Lions are the defending champions. The Kansas Chiefs might be 7-0 but the Lions feel like a deeper team with all of the injuries in KC. After a sluggish performance on offense against Tampa Bay, the Lions have absolutely went off on the scoreboard. In the three wins since Detroit’s bye week, the Lions scored 47 against Dallas on the road and routed the Tennessee Titans last week winning 52-14. The game was back-and-forth through the begging of the second quarter with the Titans actually tying the game. Then the Lions hit the turbos and scored 38 unanswered points. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown while Jared Goff only threw for 85 yards but had three touchdown passes on only 15 attempts. It helped that the Lions had a punt return of 90 yards and a kickoff return for more than 70 which has only happened three times since 1941. The club is averaging 40 or more points in their last four games and this is the best seven-game record the team has had since 1956. Tennessee is 1-6 though and they’ll likely need to rely on more yardage from Goff to pull off this road win against a division rival.

The biggest news coming out of Green Bay camp this week was the status of Jordan Love. The Packers’ QB injured his groin in the first quarter of a 30-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Love eventually exited early in the third quarter. Fortunately for Green Bay, he is expected to play against the Lions today. Malik Willis played well enough in backup duty eventually leading a 64-yard drive in less than two minutes that led to a game-winning kick by Brandon McManus. The Packers have quietly been playing brilliant ball too as the team goes for its fifth win in a row. The Lions will still be slight -3-point favorites on the road.
