The Philadelphia Eagles visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon in a 2023 Wild Card rematch.
Sunday’s early NFL window includes a 2023 playoff rematch, with the Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) heading south to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1). The Eagles last made the trip down to Tampa about nine months ago, when they visited the NFC South champion Bucs in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. That game was dominated by the Buccaneers, who won 32-9. Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield was excellent in that game, completing 22 of his 36 pass attempts for 337 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Defensively, the Bucs held the Eagles to just 276 total yards of offense.

Heading into this year’s meeting, the Bucs are trying to bounce back from their first loss of the year. After a convincing 2-0 start with wins over the Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions (another playoff rematch for Tampa), the Buccaneers couldn’t get things to click last week and lost 26-7 at home to the Denver Broncos.
Philadelphia narrowly avoided its second loss to the season last week, scoring a late touchdown to beat the New Orleans Saints 15-12 in the Super Dome. Philadelphia outgained New Orleans 460 yards to 219 in that one, but turnovers and failures to convert on multiple fourth downs prevented the Eagles from pulling away early.
Philadelphia has a chance to leave it all out on the field in this game. The Eagles go from this matchup into their Week 5 bye week – the earliest bye week in the NFL this season.
