The New York Jets try to end a five-game losing streak when they host the Houston Texans for Thursday Night Football.

It sure is looking like its Halloween as the season for the New York Jets is already looking very scary. This is not the start anyone expected the Jets to have with a healthy Aaron Rodgers at the helm. But the team has a worse record than this point last year when Zach Wilson and now he is in Denver. Firing head coach Robert Saleh hasn’t helped and the results have been the same after signing one of the best receivers in the game in Davante Adams reuniting him with his longtime Green Bay teammate. That prior chemistry is still being developed as the Jets lost to the New England Patriots to fall to 2-6 and last in the AFC East. New York is trying for its first win since Sept. 19 against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. The Jets have lost five in a row since.

The Jets had already beat the Patriots in Week 3 very easily by a 24-3 final so the Week 8 matchup was supposed to be the week that New York gets back on track. But Rhamondre Stevenson had other plans. The New England running back rushed for his second touchdown of the day with just 22 seconds left to slash New York’s hopes of a comeback. This all happened without starting QB Drake Maye who left the game early with a concussion. The Jets will benefit in this game even though it is a short week with this being a home game for New York. The Jets therefore are slight -2 favorites against the Texans tonight.

The Texans are trending in the opposite direction as the Jets winning four of their last five games. They bounced back with a win last week against the Indianapolis Colts after ending a three-game winning streak after a loss to Green Bay the week prior. Houston was great in the first half against the Colts with C.J. Stroud connecting with Tank Dell and Joe Mixon rolling off a highlight reel touchdown to go up a score by half. But Houston only scored six points in the second half to allow the Colts to get back in the game. Indy’s comeback fell short though and Colts QB Anthony Richardson getting benched for backup Joe Flacco after exiting the game because he was “tired.” The Texans will be shorthanded for this game though after losing Stefon Diggs to a non-contact knee injury and they’ve already been without their other star receiver Nico Collins. Dell will have to step up in a big way again to grab this win on the road. Either way, New York might be the slight favorite on paper but Houston could easily get walk away with the win with the opposite record of the Jets.
