It’s a battle of unbeatens when the Texans visit the Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
Entering Week 3, there are nine undefeated teams in the NFL. That number will be trimmed by at least one in the early window, when the Houston Texans (2-0) visit the Minnesota Vikings (2-0) at US Bank Stadium. Houston has played a couple of close games to get to this point. The Texans hung on to beat the Colts 29-27 in the season opener, then on Sunday Night Football last week forced two turnovers and held the Chicago Bears to 205 total yards in a 19-13 win. Minnesota had a convincing win in its opener beating the New York Giants 28-6, then held off a late charge by the San Francisco 49ers last week in a 23-17 win.

The Texans are led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, who is coming off of a Rookie of the Year campaign. Stroud has picked up right where he left off in 2023, and through two games has thrown for 494 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.
Minnesota’s quarterback plans haven’t gone quite as smoothly, which makes the Vikings 2-0 start all the more impressive. After losing Kirk Cousins in free agency the Vikings drafted J.J. McCarthy in the first round back in April. However McCarthy suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason.
That left Minnesota turning to 27-year-old former first round pick Sam Darnold. Darnold, who was a backup in San Francisco last year, has thrown for 476 yards and four touchdowns through the first two games.
Of course, it helps that Darnold has Justin Jefferson. Jefferson signed a record-breaking contract in the offseason and has played up to that level so far, with eight catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns in two games.
