Chargers Historical Information
The Chargers were founded in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). They played their inaugural season in Los Angeles before moving to San Diego in 1961, where they remained until 2017. The team returned to Los Angeles in 2017. The Chargers have one AFL championship (1963) but have yet to win a Super Bowl, losing their only appearance in Super Bowl XXIX to the San Francisco 49ers.
