With Week 1 in the rearview mirror, there are several things from a fantasy football perspective that we can take away. There have already been unfortunate injuries, surprising losses and huge fantasy performances from players and teams around the league. You are one of the happy fantasy players heading into the middle of the week if you had a player find his way onto the biggest performances list this week.

5. Mac Jones, QB – New England Patriots – 31.14 points
Mac Jones completed 35 passes on Sunday for a total of 316 yards and three touchdowns. He had one turnover and was just narrowly edged out by the Eagles for the win. Two of his three touchdowns went to Kendrick Bourne while his last went to Hunter Henry, his tight end. The running game didn’t get much going over the weekend which forced Jones to keep the ball in the air and he definitely capitalized. He is most likely unrostered and should be worth a look if you have a QB-needy fantasy football team.
4. Brandon Aiyuk, WR – San Francisco 49ers – 32.90 points
Over the summer, the debate of who would be under center for the 49ers come Week 1 was in full swing. In the end, Trey Lance got traded, and Brock Purdy got the start. The main beneficiary of Purdy under center was Brandon Aiyuk. Purdy completed 19 passes, eight of which went to Aiyuk. He caught all eight targets for 129 yards and two touchdowns on the day. He averaged 16.1 yards per catch against one of the best defenses in the league.
3. Tua Tagovailoa, QB – Miami Dolphins – 36.14 points
The Dolphins played in a shootout with the Chargers over the weekend. Tua Tagovailoa ended up throwing for the fifth most yards all time by a QB on opening weekend. He finished with 28 completions on 45 attempts with 466 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. The majority of his passes went to Tyreek Hill, who we will talk about later. Tagovailoa is coming off of his concussion problems last season and came out proving that he has not been affected in the pocket.
2. Dallas Cowboys Defense – 40.00 points
The Dallas Cowboys’ defense and special teams gave all the Giants could handle on Sunday. Daniel Jones barely topped 100 yards and threw two interceptions. They also forced three fumbles and recovered one of them. They didn’t allow New York to score a single point, and they scored twice, once on a fumble scoop and score and once on special teams. They were also able to sack Jones seven times. They look like a top fantasy football defense.
1. Tyreek Hill, WR – Miami Dolphins – 44.50 points
We have already mentioned the shootout that Los Angeles and Miami had and the game the Tagovailoa had. His favorite receiver, Hill, had a monster game to lead all players in Week 1. He finished catching 11 passes of Tagovailoa’s 28 completions with 215 yards and two touchdowns. Even without the touchdowns, Hill would have surpassed 30 points and still been on this list, that is how good of a game he had. The key to moving forward is if he can keep it up.
