    Week 8 NFL Power Rankings

Another week in the NFL and another group of upsets. The Chiefs lost to the Broncos, the Bengals beat the 49ers and the Panthers finally got their first win of the season.

A crazy season got even crazier as we continue to try to figure out who the best teams are. It is jumbled in the middle, but a few teams seem to be moving up to the top.

    1. Philadelphia Eagles 7-1

    Last Week 1

The Eagles trailed by seven early in the fourth quarter to the Commanders, but three straight touchdowns put the game away and gave them a seventh win. They are starting to separate themselves in the NFC, but they host the Cowboys on Sunday in a battle for the NFC East.

    2. Miami Dolphins 6-2

    Last Week 3

The Dolphins beat the Patriots for a second time this year on Sunday and continue to beat the teams they are supposed to beat. This Sunday they get a huge opportunity to cement themselves as the team to beat in the AFC when the play the Chiefs in Germany.

    3. Baltimore Ravens 6-2

    Last Week 5

The Ravens won their third straight game on Sunday as they fended off a pesky Cardinals team. It was a bit of a letdown after their beatdown of the Lions, but a win is a win. They have two straight home games coming up against the Seahawks and Browns.

    4. Detroit Lions 6-2

    Last Week 6

The Lions bounced back from their loss to the Ravens with a 26-14 Monday Night win over the Raiders. The Lions now have a two-game lead in the NFC North as they head into their bye week. It is the best the Lions have looked in a long time.

    5. Kansas City Chiefs 6-2

    Last Week 2

The Chiefs offense hasn’t looked the same all year and Sunday it bit them as they lost to the Broncos 24-9. Denver is playing better, but it is still the same defense that gave up 70 points to the Dolphins earlier this year. The Chiefs need to figure things out quickly as games with the Dolphins in Germany and at home against the Eagles are coming up.

    6. Jacksonville Jaguars 6-2

    Last Week 7

The Jaguars won for the fifth straight time on Sunday when they beat the Steelers 28-10. Their 1-2 start now seems like a distant memory and they are now two games clear in the loss column in the AFC South. A home game with the 49ers comes after a bye week.

    7. Cincinnati Bengals 4-3

    Last Week 13

The Bengals made a big jump after their win over the 49ers on Sunday. They have now won three in a row and got over .500 for the first time this year. A home game against the Bills on Sunday night will see just how far they have come.

    8. San Francisco 49ers 5-3

    Last Week 4

The 49ers lost their third straight game on Sunday and a team that once looked like the class of the NFC is in second place in their own division. Injuries have been a factor, but the offense is struggling. They are off this week and it couldn’t have come at a better time. A trip to Jacksonville awaits on the other side of the bye, though, and they could be facing a fourth straight loss.

    9. Dallas Cowboys 5-2

    Last Week 9

The Cowboys looked great in the first half against the Rams on Sunday as they scored 33 points. They scored just 10 in the second half, but it didn’t matter in their 43-20 victory. They get a chance to make a move on Sunday as they head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

    10. Buffalo Bills 5-3

    Last Week 10

The Bills looked a little better on Thursday in a 24-16 win over the Buccaneers. The offense still doesn’t look right and they are just 2-2 in their last four games. They sit a game back of the Dolphins in the AFC East and have another tough game this weekend as they head to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals.

    11. Seattle Seahawks 5-2

    Last Week 11

The Seahawks looked like they were going to lose to the Browns, but a late interception and touchdown flipped the game and they got a huge win. They have now won two in a row and five of their last six and are a half-game ahead of the 49ers for the top of the NFC West.

    12. Cleveland Browns 4-3

    Last Week 8

The Browns had the Seahawks beat but gave up the late lead and dropped to 4-3 on the season. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak, but they did get a late win last week so it evened out. They have a home game with the Cardinals this weekend, before a huge game at Baltimore in two weeks.

    13. Pittsburgh Steelers 4-3

    Last Week 12

We still aren’t sold on the Steelers and they have to figure out what they are doing at quarterback, but they are above .500 and just a game back of the Ravens in the division. A Thursday night game with the Titans is up next before a home game with the Packers. They need to win both of those games.

    14. Minnesota Vikings 4-4

    Last Week 15

The Vikings got a huge win over the Packers in Green Bay on Sunday, but they lost starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to a torn Achilles. They are looking at trades for a new quarterback and if they can get one they could make a run at a playoff spot after a horrible start to the year.

    15. New York Jets 4-3

    Last Week 16

Their offense was bad on Sunday, but they shocked the Giants with a late field goal and then won in overtime. The defense is still elite and will keep them in games, but they need more from the offense moving forward. A home game with the Chargers is next before two road games at Las Vegas and Buffalo.

    16. Atlanta Falcons 4-4

    Last Week 14

We are starting to get into where things getting really jumbled. The Falcons gave up a big day to Will Levis and the Titans on Sunday, but still only lost 28-23. They are now 4-4 and in a tie with the Saints for the top of the NFC South. A home game with the Vikings is next and they need to win that.

    17. New Orleans Saints 4-4

    Last Week 20

The Saints snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday as they beat the Colts in Indianapolis 38-27. The win moved them back into a tie with the Falcons for the top spot in the division. They get the Bears next in a very winnable game before two straight road games at Minnesota and Atlanta.

    18. Las Angeles Chargers 3-4

    Last Week 23

Will the real Chargers please stand up? The offense looked nearly unstoppable on Sunday night (yes we know it was against the Bears) in a 30-13 win over Chicago. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and got them back to within a game of .500. A Monday night date against the Jets is up next before the Lions come to town.

    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-5

    Last Week 18

The Buccaneers are sliding as they have lost three in a row after starting the year 3-1. The offense has scored just 37 total points in the three losses and despite the defense playing well it hasn’t been enough. Sunday they travel to Houston to take on the Texans before a home game against the Titans.

    20. Denver Broncos 3-5

    Last Week 24

Once viewed as the worst team in the league after giving up 70 points to the Dolphins, the Broncos have won two in a row and just limited the Chiefs to nine points. They aren’t a great team, but they are definitely improving. A bye week is up next before a trip to Buffalo. Beat the Bills and they will keep rising.

    21. Houston Texans 3-4

    Last Week 17

The Texans laid an egg on Sunday and lost to the Panthers 15-13. They had won three of four and CJ Stroud was looking good, but the offense struggled and they lost on a last-second field goal. The Texans have looked great at times this year, but consistency is severely lacking.

    22. Los Angeles Rams 3-5

    Last Week 19

The Rams looked horrible on Sunday and then they lost quarterback Matthew Stafford to a sprained thumb. Stafford is said to be day-to-day and they need him back if they have any shot at making a run at the playoffs. They travel to Green Bay on Sunday before a much-needed bye week.

    23. Indianapolis Colts 3-5

    Last Week 21

The Colts lost their third in a row as the Saints came to town and beat them 38-27. They led 17-7 early but struggled the rest of the game and were never really in it during the second half. They are on the road this week at the Panthers and they have to win this game.

    24. Tennessee Titans 3-4

    Last Week 22

The Titans snapped a two-game losing streak as rookie Will Levis played great in his first-ever start. Levis connected with DeAndre Hopkins for three touchdowns and the offense finally looked like it had some life. Three straight road games are up next as we get to see just how good Levis is.

    25. Green Bay Packers 2-5

    Last Week 25

The rest of this list might just be playing for draft position now. The Packers looked bad in losing at home to the Vikings on Sunday. It was their fourth straight loss after starting the year 2-1. Jordan Love has struggled and they need to get a win this Sunday as they take on the Rams at home.

    26. Chicago Bears 2-6

    Last Week 26

The Bears stay in the same spot only because they have wins over the two teams right behind them. They looked lost against the Chargers on Sunday night and now star cornerback Jaylon Johnson wants a trade. Things aren’t getting much better for Chicago.

    27. Washington Commanders 3-5

    Last Week 28

The Commanders once again played the Eagles tough and once again came up just short. They have now lost five of their last six and must go on the road for their next two games. In fact five of their next seven are on the road in a brutal stretch of games. This season could completely slip away from them soon.

    28. Las Vegas Raiders 2-5

    Last Week 27

A modest two-game winning streak has been wiped out by two straight losses. The offense continues to struggle even though they have Devonte Adams and Josh Jacobs. They do have a very winnable game on Sunday against the Giants before playing the Jets. They have to win their next two games or the season is shot.

    29. New England Patriots 2-6

    Last Week 29

A week after shocking the Bills, the Patriots couldn’t do the same against the Dolphins and lost 31-17. They did play them tough for a lot of the game, but didn’t have enough to get the win. They have now lost four of five and it doesn’t look like they are going to get much better.

    30. New York Giants 2-6

    Last Week 30

The Giants had -9 yards passing on Sunday and still almost won the game. A missed field goal by Graham Gano allowed the Jets to come back and get a game-tying field goal. They then lost the game in overtime and kept them from winning a second straight game. A road trip to Las Vegas is next for the struggling Giants.

    31. Arizona Cardinals 1-7

    Last Week 31

The Cardinals were once again competitive on Sunday, but still came up short in a 31-24 loss to the Ravens. The Cardinals will now turn to Clayton Tune at quarterback as they are benching Joshua Dobbs. Things don’t get any easier, though as they must head to Cleveland to take on the Browns next.

    32. Carolina Panthers 1-6

    Last Week 32

The Panthers will not go winless this year as they finally broke through to beat the Texans 15-13 on Sunday. The defense played well after giving up 42 points in back-to-back weeks against the Lions and Dolphins. They stay home to play the Colts on Sunday before a Thursday night game with the Bears in Chicago.
