The Rangers will look to even the series tonight after going down 1-0 in a 2-1 overtime loss on Wednesday.
While the Rangers went into their first game against the Hurricanes on Wednesday as the underdogs, they should not be disappointed in their level of play in the 2-1 overtime loss. The team held off one of the strongest NHL teams on Wednesday night and kept the score close.

The Rangers were able to get an early start with a goal from Filip Chytil only 7:07 into the game. After playing the Hurricanes scoreless for the remainder of the first and the entire second period, it was looking like the Rangers may walk away unscathed. The defense held the Canes to only 14 shots in the first two periods.
The third period seemed to begin in the Hurricanes favor. They started the period strong and recorded seven shots before the Rangers could record one. The momentum the Hurricanes were producing in the third was something not easily handled by the Rangers and Sebastian Aho was able to sneak one in late in the third to extend the game into overtime play. Ian Cole scored just 3:12 into overtime to secure the win for the Hurricanes.
The Rangers have nothing to hang their heads about, but they should not expect the same Hurricanes team to hit the ice tonight that came out Wednesday. It was quite clearly not the Canes’ best showing and cannot expect to be repeated in such an important series.
