The Colorado Avalanche will try to get back in the win column when they face the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
With just two weeks to go in the NHL’s regular season, there’s still a close race at the top of the Central Division and Eastern Conference. Entering play on Thursday the Dallas Stars lead both the conference and the division, with 105 standings points. However, the Colorado Avalanche (47-22-6) are still within striking distance, sitting five points back with a game in hand on the Stars and seven games left to play (the Vancouver Canucks are also in the mix for the top seed in the conference with 102 points). On Thursday night the Avs will try to continue their push towards that top spot in the division and conference when they visit the Minnesota Wild (36-29-9) at the Xcel Energy Center.

For the Avalanche, this is the second game of a three-game road trip. They started the week in Ohio on Monday, and fell 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Meanwhile, the Wild are on the fifth game of a six-game homestand that began in late March. So far they’ve recorded at least one point in all four games, going 2-0-2 including a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators in their most recent outing.
