The day after a blockbuster trade, the Colorado Avalanche look to snap their losing skid as road trip opens in Beantown against the Bruins

Riding a two-game losing streak and having posted six losses in their last 10 games, the Colorado Avalanche hit the ice on Saturday afternoon the day after trading their leading goal scorer as they take on the Boston Bruins in search for their first win inside TD Garden since 2019. The Avalanche sent winger Mikko Rantanen to Carolina in a three-team deal on Friday in exchange for Hurricanes wingers Martin Necas and Jack Drury who will likely join the club as early as Sunday. Boston has alternated wins and losses over their last five games and come into this matchup off a 2-0 shutout win over Ottawa on Thursday night.

Reigning league MVP Nathan MacKinnon leads Colorado with 75 points this season, most in the NHL. MacKinnon, the number one overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, comes into Saturday on a five-game points streak and has scored four goals in his last four games. A year after posting a career-high 140 points, MacKinnon is on pace for his third consecutive 110-point campaign and is 26 points shy of 1,000 for his career.

Boston has been wildly inconsistent on offense of late scoring four or more goals six times and one goal or less three times in their last 10 games. The Bruins rank 26th in the league scoring 2.72 goals per game and are 30th on the power play converting on just 13.4% of chances with the man advantage.

The Bruins have won five of the last six meetings in this series with the lone Colorado victory coming in a shootout in Denver last January. The Avalanche have lost three consecutive trips to Boston last winning in December of 2019.
