Minnesota had no problem winning in its opener, with the Wild easily giving St. Louis the blues. Ryan Hartman scored twice to earn the second star of the game. The only one that bested Hartman was goalie Filip Gustavsson. He stopped all 26 shots he faced for his 12th-career shutout. The Wild still won despite getting outshot 26-21. They’ll likely need more shots on net this game to stay undefeated.

That’s because Columbus lost its opener despite outshooting the Predators 39 to 32. That is why goalie Juuse Saros earned the first star of the game making 38 saves. Ryan O’Reilly scored the go-ahead goal in the third period on the power play, earning the second star of the game. That was after the Blue Jackets scored their lone goal from Dmitri Voronkov late in the first period. If Columbus is able to match their effort from Thursday, they will have a great shot at evening their season record.
