The St. Louis Blues try to turn it around and break a three-game losing streak when they travel to take on the streaking Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

The St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins play in just one of two games on Monday night. The other is in the capital city of Canada when the Ottawa Senators host the Boston Bruins. The Penguins are coming into this game against the Blues on a very hot streak. While Pittsburgh did lose in its last game 5-4 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, it did go to a shootout so they did earn a point. Before that game, Pittsburgh had won four games in a row. The Penguins are just three points back, and in second place in the Metropolitan division behind the New Jersey Devils with a 6-2-1 record. The Blues are trending in the opposite direction. St. Louis has lost four of its last five games, as it tries to end a three-game losing streak. The Blues are trying to rein in their defense, giving up 13 goals in their last two games. Somehow they are still the slight -120 favorites on the road tonight to break out of this slump.

The Penguins had a great opportunity to win four games in a row in their last matchup against the Blue Jackets, before the puck even dropped. The win for Columbus was just its second in its last 18 visits to Pittsburgh. Things started off great very quickly for the Penguins when Ryan Shea scored in under a minute to begin the game. Anthony Mantha scored with less than two minutes left in the first to take a 2-1 lead. But the Blue Jackets took control of the game in the second period and into the third, by scoring three straight goals. Kris Letang and Bryan Rust scored within in two minutes of each other late in the third to rally and tie the game. Rust and Sidney Crosby both scored in the shootout, but the Blue Jackets had three scoring to take the two points.

The Blues got off to an even better start than the Penguins, when St. Louis faced off against Detroit on Saturday. The Blues scored the first four goals of the game, with Jake Neighbours scoring two of those to earn the second star of the game. But then the bottom absolutely fell out for the Blues, with the Red Wings scoring six unanswered goals to win 6-4 in a stunning comeback. Simon Edvinsson scored the game-tying goal in the middle of the third, assisted by first star J.T. Compher who also had a goal. Both St. Louis and Pittsburgh need to focus on finishing this game.
