David Pastrnak leads the Boston Bruins in NHL preseason action against the New York Rangers on Thursday.

The New York Rangers (2-0-0) have picked up where they left off last season with back-to-back wins in the preseason. Last season New York finished with the best record in the NHL and made it all the way to the conference finals before falling to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions. Thursday they take on the Boston Bruins (1-1-0), another playoff team from last season in the Eastern Conference. New York swept the season series last year, scoring 14 goals in three games, including an overtime thriller early in the season. Both teams look to build momentum in the preseason to prepare for the regular season and a potential run to the Stanley Cup Finals.

New York already picked up a win over Boston in the preseason in a 3-2 game four days ago. In that game Boston got off to an early lead with a goal by Cole Koepke less than 90 seconds into the game. From there Victor Mancini and Filip Chytil scored in the first period to take the lead and Alex Belzile scored the deciding goal in the third period.

In New York’s second preseason game it allowed three goals in the second period and were down 4-1 with just over 12 minutes to go in the game. The floodgates opened with Chytil scoring his second goal of the preseason, followed by two goals from Zac Jones and Chris Kreider each and one from Adam Edstrom to finish with a 6-4 win.

Boston bounced back after that loss to New York with a 4-2 win over Washington. Riley Tufte, Fabian Lysell, Patrick Brown and Justin Brazeau all found the net in the win, as the team shakes off the off-season rust.
