The Boston Bruins go for their third win in a row while the Buffalo Sabres try to avoid losing three in a row in this division rivalry on Tuesday.

The Boston Bruins look to take a 2-0 series against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. The Bruins won 3-1 just before Christmas against the Sabres in the first of this season series with Morgan Geekie scoring the go-ahead goal on the power play. The Bruins will be the -125 favorite even on the road tonight with Boston going for its third win in a row. Buffalo meanwhile is trying to avoid losing three in a row as it has already lost four of its last five games. Boston holds a 15-point lead over Buffalo where the Sabres are firmly in last place in the Atlantic division.

Boston is coming off a 3-1 win on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche who were still reeling from the trade of their superstar Mikko Rantanen. The Avs outshot the Bruins 28-15 but Boston was still able to come away with the victory in large part thanks to goalie Jeremy Swayman who stopped 27 of those shots. Boston scored all of its goals in the third period with Geekie once again getting the go-ahead goal. It was Geekie’s second goal of the game as he tied things at one-goal apiece just 25 seconds into the third. He would go on to score five minutes later and earn the first star of the game.

The Sabres are coming off a close 3-2 loss against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Alex Tuch scored the first goal of the game but the Oilers tied it just 17 seconds later. The rest of the game played like that with both teams trading goals. It wasn’t until Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the game winner in the third where Buffalo was shutout. This was despite the Sabres putting up 41 shots. If Buffalo puts up that kind of production again, it will have a great chance of pulling off this upset at home tonight.
